MG Motor announces its partnership with Park+, India’s leading provider of automated smart parking solutions. Under this partnership, MG Motor will enable pre parking booking for its upcoming new AI-driven SUV named, Astor. When launched, this will be an industry-first feature. Astor will leverage Park+’s tech-backed value proposition to pre-book and prepay for parking slots. This is a great feature, given the growing parking distress, especially in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and more. Customers won’t have to waste time looking for parking spots and thus saving some fuel. MG Motor hopes that this feature will provide the customers with an enhanced user experience, thus boosting SUV sales.
MG Astor – AI Inside
The growing trend of digitalisation is now reflecting in the automotive industry as well. MG Hector was the first car in the Indian market that popularised the connected car concept with its trademark ‘Internet Inside’ badge. And now, with the Astor SUV, MG will introduce the ‘AI Inside’ badge to grab the attention of potential customers. Justifying the ‘AI Inside’ badge, MG has loaded a host of smart features. The personal voice assistance equipped with the car can depict human-like emotions, voices, read jokes, play music and more.
MG Astor ADAS Tech
The SUV is equipped with Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). Thus, the SUV gets advanced safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Rear Drive Assist (RDA), and Speed Assist System (Sas). MG Motor has also confirmed that they have tweaked the ADAS system to suit the Indian traffic conditions.
Price And Competition
As of now, there’s no official statement from MG regarding the pricing of the SUV. But, as it stands, the MG will reveal the exact price sometime in September 2021. With all the localisation, MG Astor will enter the mid-size SUV segment at an attractive price. Once launched, Astor will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos and Renault Duster. MG will position the car below the Hector, and thus we expect the price to be somewhere in the range of INR 10 to 15 lakh.
