New MG SUV promoting ‘DriveAI’ on camouflaged test cars

MG recently revealed CAAP (Car As A Platform) a digital AI featuring various in-car services. CAAP will feature subscriptions in the field of utility, entertainment, security, consumer payment, etc. Now, images of an MG mid-size SUV with DriveAI printed on the side profile of the car, of course under camouflage wrap have surafced online. This car which was spotted is MG’s new mid-size SUV which will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta & Kia Seltos. This would also become the most affordable car from MG Motor India.

MG Astor

MG is planning on launching a new SUV in India, which will slot in below the MG Hector SUV. This will allow MG to target a wider audience range in India. MG recently filed patents for the Astor trademark in the Indian market. Speculations are that the Astor will be a rebadged version of the MG ZS Petrol. The all-electric counterpart, MG ZS EV is already for sale in India.

But in the petrol engine avatar, the SUV is likely to come with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 111 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque. The brand may also offer a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 106 PS of power and 141 Nm of torque. MG is not likely to offer a diesel engine on the Astor.

CAAP (Car As A Platform)

MG is partnering with various global ecosystem experts with expertise in Blockchain, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technologies. MG recently announced that it is working closely with its technology partners to form a support system for the Car as a Platform (CAAP). The digital platform will also help develop services and subscriptions for its partners which helps the on-demand in-car needs.

MG Astor Jio Connected Vehicle Solutions

The MG Astor is likely to come with seamless IT systems integration enabled by Jio’s IoT solution. The Indian telecommunications company operates an LTE network with coverage across all 22 telecom circles in India. MG recently announced its partnership with Jio for Connected Vehicle Solutions. Through the IoT platform, Jio will provide connectivity, hardware and software making available trending information and real-time telematics.
