2021 MG Astor revealed, gets Artificial Intelligence & Level-2 Autonomous tech

MG has unveiled the technological features that the upcoming mid-size SUV will come with. The brand also revealed that the name of the upcoming SUV is Astor. The name draws inspiration from the Raytheon Sentinel, an airborne battlefield and ground surveillance aircraft. The aircraft was formerly used by the Royal Air Force (RAF), UK. The brand also revealed that MG Astor shares its platform with MG ZS. The ZS is a popular offering in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, Norway, Netherlands, and other Asian countries.

MG Astor Artificial Intelligence System

The brand has announced that the Astor mid-size SUV will come with the industry-first personal AI assistant. The Artificial Intelligence personal assistant is designed by the American firm ‘Star Design’. The personal assistant depicts human-like emotions & voices and is capable of giving every detail through Wikipedia. Powering the personal assistant is an i-Smart Hub, which is a dedicated place on the car’s dashboard. 

The AI personal assistant will interact with the car’s passengers, and users also can customize the set of services. The personal assistant can also turn its head to interact with passengers and features a screen to display emotions. The AI personal assistant wakes up with the “Hello Astor” call and can read jokes, chit-chat, play music, select in-car controls, navigate news, critical in-car warnings, and know Hinglish.

MG Astor Autonomous Driving Technology: Level-2 – ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)

MG has also revealed that the Astor mid-size SUV will come with Level-2 Autonomous Technology. This includes Advanced Driver Assistance System such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist (RDA), and Speed Assist System (Sas). The brand also revealed that MG had further optimized all the systems for Indian traffic conditions. The first-in-segment feature will significantly improve and offer driving safety and comfort that customers only get in luxury segments.

MG Astor Teased

For the first time in the Indian market, MG also teased the mid-size SUV, the MG Astor. The brand revealed that the all-new Bold Celestial Grille draws inspiration from the cosmic lines of the universe. The grille comes with a radial pattern, and the tungsten steel electroplated material forms an appearance like the sun. The grille also features a contrast of light and dark, giving it a three-dimensional effect. MG also revealed a unique ‘Dual Tone Sangria Red’ interior of Astor. Furthermore, the brand said that the red interior is one of the three options for the Astor.
