After years of struggle in the Indian automobile market, Nissan has finally hit the sweet spot with their Magnite compact-SUV. The all-new Magnite has been priced very competitively, that is also because it was first imagined as a Datsun product but now flaunts the Nissan logo. The Magnite is the country's most affordable sub-4 metre SUV and it is reflecting in the demand with waiting period going up with each passing day. Nissan had launched the Magnite at an introductory price tag of INR 4.99 lakh, but now, the prices for the base model have been bumped up by INR 50,000. So now, the Nissan Magnite range starts at INR 5.49 lakh. The good news though is that none of the other variants have witnessed a change in price. The compact-SUV has also received 1,80,000 enquiries since its debut in December 2020. The Magnite for now is only Made-in-India and adding another feather to its hat is the 4-star safety rating given by the ASEAN NCAP. Nissan is planning to hire additional workforce of 1,000 at their plant to start a 3rd production shift for the Magnite. This will reduce waiting period by 2-3 months. Nissan's Magnite has been launched in 20 variants with more than 36 combinations for the customer to decide from. There's also an optional Tech Pack for an added price which includes an air purifier, ambient lights, puddle lamps and premium speakers. While the Magnite is very affordable at the lower end of the segment, the brand reveals that most of the Magnite buyers are opting for the top XV & XV Premium variants and nearly 30% bookings are for the CVT automatic. To attract buyers and to give them some peace of mind, Nissan is claiming lowest in class maintenance cost for the Magnite at 29 paise / km for 50,000 kms of ownership. The brand is offering 2 years / 50,000 km warranty as standard which can be extended up to 5 years / 100,000 kms. By opting for a prepaid maintenance plan, customers can further save 22% on the service costs.
