Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has introduced the 2025 CB650R and CBR650R, making them the first motorcycles in India to feature E-Clutch technology. This advanced system allows riders to shift gears, start, and stop without manually operating the clutch, enhancing convenience in stop-and-go traffic.

What is E-Clutch technology?

Honda’s E-Clutch system uses electronic actuators to engage and disengage the clutch automatically. Riders can slot into first gear and accelerate without using the clutch lever, making the bikes beginner-friendly. The system can also be deactivated, allowing manual clutch operation for a traditional riding experience.

Engine and performance

Both models retain the 649cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine, producing 95 bhp at 12,000 rpm and 63 Nm at 9,500 rpm. The bikes feature a six-speed gearbox, with the E-Clutch system ensuring seamless gear shifts.

Suspension duties are handled by Showa 41mm SFF-BP front forks and a rear monoshock, while braking is managed by dual 310mm front discs and a 240mm rear disc, supported by dual-channel ABS.

Design and features

The CB650R follows Honda’s Neo Sports Café design, featuring a round LED headlamp, sculpted fuel tank, and exposed steel frame. It is available in Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic.

The CBR650R, on the other hand, adopts a sportier full-fairing design, inspired by Honda’s race bikes. It comes in Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic.

Both models feature a 5.0-inch full-color TFT display, supporting Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity.

Market position and rivals

The CB650R competes with the Triumph Trident 660 and Kawasaki Z650, while the CBR650R rivals the Triumph Daytona 660 and Kawasaki Ninja 650.

Availability and pricing

Bookings for both models are now open at Honda BigWing dealerships, with deliveries set to begin by the end of May 2025.
