TVS has launched the most affordable variant of the TVS Jupiter. The 110cc gearless scooter will be available for INR 63,497 (ex-showroom) for the Sheet Metal Wheel variant meanwhile the other trims of the Jupiter have received a price hike. The other variants which are available have a price tag of INR 65,497 for the standard trim, INR 68,247 for the ZX trim, INR 72,347 for the ZX Disc trim and INR 72,472 for the Classic trim.
The Jupiter is powered by a 109.7cc air-cooled engine which is mated to a CVT transmission producing 7.3 BHP of power at 7,000 RPM and 8.4 Nm of torque at 5,500 RPM. The kerb weight is 109 kgs, which makes it one of the lighter scooters in its segment. The fuel capacity is rated at 6 litres which is adequate for daily errands and city usage.
As far the features are concerned, TVS has mounted the fuel lid externally which adds up as a convenient feature, the USB charging features comes an optional extra on the standard trim whereas the ZX and Classic get it as a standard feature, meanwhile, the standard trim also misses out on a digital-analogue speedometer which the ZX trims gets as a standard fitment. The retro-looking windscreen is only equipped with the Classic variant. There is also the ZX Disc trim which comes with front disc brakes whereas the other trims get the SBT (Synchronized Braking Technology). The key differentiator for the Jupiter is that it comes with LED headlights which are a standard feature across its range.
The ARAI rated mileage is given as 60.44 kmpl but in the real-world scenario, the scooter is expected to return a mileage of around 51 kmpl in the city ride and close to 57 kmpl on the highway. The performance is also quite impressive as the scooter can sprint from 0 to 60 kmph in just 10.24 seconds. The main chief rival in the gearless scooter market is the Honda Activa 6G which recently celebrated adding 2.5 crore customers under its brand name.
