MG Motor India has officially launched the Windsor PRO, an upgraded version of its popular electric crossover, at an introductory price of INR 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The PRO variant brings a larger battery, advanced safety features, and premium design enhancements, making it a compelling choice in the EV segment.
Battery and performance upgrades
The Windsor PRO is equipped with a 52.9 kWh battery pack, replacing the 38 kWh unit found in the standard Windsor EV. This upgrade extends the claimed range to 449 km, making it more suitable for long-distance travel.
Despite the bigger battery, the powertrain remains unchanged, with the front-wheel-drive PMS motor producing 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque. The EV supports 7.4 kW AC charging, which takes 9.5 hours for a full charge, and 60 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 20-80% charge in just 50 minutes.
Advanced features and safety enhancements
MG has introduced Level 2 ADAS, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning. Additionally, the Windsor PRO features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities, allowing owners to power external devices or charge other EVs.
Design and interior updates
While the exterior styling remains largely unchanged, MG has added new 18-inch alloy wheels and three new color options—Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver. Inside, the cabin receives a refreshed beige upholstery, replacing the black theme of the regular Windsor EV.
Market position and pricing
The Windsor PRO sits above the standard Windsor EV, which is priced between INR 14 lakh and INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom). MG is also offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, allowing buyers to purchase the EV at ₹12.49 lakh, with the battery rented separately at INR 4.5 per km.
Bookings for the Windsor PRO will officially open on May 8, 2025, with the introductory price valid for the first 8,000 units.
