MG Motor India is set to launch the Windsor PRO, an upgraded version of its best-selling electric crossover, featuring a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack. This new battery replaces the 38 kWh unit found in the standard Windsor EV, promising significantly improved range and better long-distance usability.
Battery and performance upgrades
The 52.9 kWh battery pack is expected to deliver a longer claimed range, though MG has yet to reveal the exact figures. However, we can expect the range to be between 460 km to 500 km. This will put the new electric SUV directly in competition with the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv.EV.
The Windsor PRO will retain its Permanent Magnet Synchronous (PMS) motor, producing 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque, ensuring a balance between efficiency and performance.
Advanced features and safety enhancements
MG is also introducing Level 2 ADAS, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning. Additionally, the EV will feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities, allowing owners to power external devices or charge other EVs.
Design and interior updates
While the exterior styling remains largely unchanged, MG has added new alloy wheels and subtle design tweaks to differentiate the Windsor PRO from the standard model. Inside, the cabin receives a refreshed beige upholstery, replacing the black theme of the regular Windsor EV.
Market position and pricing
The Windsor PRO will sit above the standard Windsor EV, which is priced between INR 14 lakh and INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The PRO variant is expected to start at INR 17 lakh, reflecting its larger battery and added features.
