Ahead of the official launch, Suzuki has revealed full details of the 150cc Gixxer motorcycle. The bike will be available at a price of Rs. 79,809 (on-road Delhi). Suzuki has started accepting bookings for the motorcycle.
The Gixxer will be available in five colours – grey, red, black, blue and white. It is a naked street bike and competes with the Honda CB Trigger and the recently launched Yamaha FZ Version 2.0. Overall design looks fresh and the Gixxer has been positioned over the ageing Suzuki GS150R.
The Gixxer is powered by a 154.9cc 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC engine producing 14.8 PS of power @ 8,000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 RPM. It gets a 5-speed gearbox and fuel is delivered by a carburetor. A disc brake is available at the front, while the rear uses a drum brake. The bike has a kerb weight of 135 kg and can carry up to 12 litres of fuel. Suspension duty is performed by a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. A 140/60 R17 section tyre at the back and a 100/80 R17 patch at the front, both of which are of the tubeless category.
The bike gets a small fairing around the headlamp with a small wind deflector on top. Fuel tank is sculpted and the floating side cowl matches the design. It has a step up seat, but not of the split category. Grab rails are available for the pillion rider. Engine is painted in black, and so are the alloy wheels. The short exhaust end can gets some chrome bits for aesthetics. Instrument cluster is a full digital and tail lamp is a LED unit.
Motorcycles from Suzuki have not managed to make an impact in the industry yet. With the Gixxer, the brand expects to gain a larger market share in the 150cc premium motorcycle segment.
