2022 Skoda Kushaq Style will come with six airbags as standard. Replying to a user on Twitter, Zac Hollis, Director of Sales and Marketing, Skoda India, confirmed the news. The 6 airbags Style trim was first launched in November last year. At that time, the price difference with the 2 airbags trim was INR 40,000. But, now the price difference from the 2021 version has increased to INR 70,000. Thus from 2022, customers will not have the option to opt for the 2-airbag trim of the Style variant. This is a great step to compel customers to opt for much safer 6-airbags trim.
Six Airbags As Standard Fitment Soon
Recently, there were talks suggesting that MoRTH is planning to make 6-airbags compulsory for all cars seating up to 8 passengers. Shri. Nitin Gadkari, recently mentioned that he has approved a draft GSR Notification to make 6 airbags compulsory. This move is a great step towards making road transportation in India much safer. 6 airbags include 2 conventional airbags for the front passengers. Meaning the other 4 airbags will come in the form of torso and curtain airbags.
The inclusion of 4 more airbags helps mitigate the impact of accidents to a great level, especially for the rear passengers. One downside of this upgrade is that now vehicles will become more costly. As per courses, the prices can go up by as high as INR 30,000 to INR 40,000 when compared to the 2-airbag trim. But, the safety aspect will increase manifold, thus justifying the price increase. Given the number of road accidents and fatalities we see every year, this big safety mandate will reduce the figure to a great extent.
