Royal Enfield is planning to set up a third production facility in India as a part of their global expansion plan. The company plans to open up this facility in the Oragadam industrial region where it already has been present for quite some time. This will be the second manufacturing unit in the same belt.
The country’s oldest motorcycle manufacturer plans to expand its annual production capacity to 6 lakh units in the near future, and hence this move. Owned by Eicher Motors, the company has purchased a 50 acre plot in Vallam Vadakkal near the previous Oragadam unit. The other manufacturing facility is located at Thiruvottiyur.
Currently, Royal Enfield has an installed production capacity of 3 lakh units which will be expanded to 4 lakh units from the currently functional two facilities. But due to the growing demand for the motorcycles globally, a new production facility is a must.
