Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is now available in Solapur, Maharashtra. The electric scooter is available in a single variant, Premium, with a price tag of INR 1,34,814 (ex-showroom). The Chetak will be available in four colour options – Brooklyn Black, Hazel Nut, Indigo Metallic, and Velluto Rosso. Interested buyers can book the scooter by paying a booking amount of INR 2,000.
Bajaj Chetak – A Brief Overview
Chetak was the model of Bajaj, a popular brand in India. Over the years, the nameplate became increasingly famous and became synonymous with Bajaj. But then the company axed the model and stopped the manufacturing. Fast forward to 2021, Bajaj has revitalised the model with the introduction of this electric scooter. The design also draws its inspiration from the iconic Chetak to make the scooter relevant to the name. There are some contemporary touches that give the Chetak a refreshed look. Alongside this, Bajaj has also equipped the scooter with all the latest tech as per 2022 standards.
Powering the scooter is a 4kW/14 Nm beltless solid gear drive electric motor. The equipped battery pack is an IP67 rated high-tech Lithium-Ion battery. As per Bajaj, it will deliver a range of 90 km in Eco Mode. Bajaj mentioned that charging time will take around 5 hours, with 25 per cent getting charged in under 60 minutes. Bajaj also claims that the Chetak EV is low on maintenance, with a service interval of 12,000 km or one year. Furthermore, to add to the convenience and peace of mind, customers get three years or 50,000 km of warranty on the battery.
Bajaj’s Plans In The Electric Domain
With the demand running high, it is apparent that Bajaj will add more EV options for the customers. The company is already in plans to develop more EV models, specifically in the low and mid-speed segments. We also expect the company to introduce a much more competitively priced EV offering very soon.
