BPCL & Bounce Infinity will set up battery swapping stations

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has announced its collaboration with Bounce Infinity to set up charging infrastructure across the country. As part of this, Bounce’s Battery Swapping Stations will come up across Bharat Petroleum fuel stations. The aim is to set up 3,000 charging stations across the top 10 cities. The smart framework will cater not only to the company’s retail business but will also support the interoperable partners (2W’s, 3W’s & other OEMs) for ease of mobility. This partnership is a great move for BPCL to fast-track its energy transition journey. Furthermore, this infrastructure will also boost the EV adoption in the court, which will encourage more customers to join in.

Battery Swapping VS Conventional Charging

Bounce Batter Swapping technology is a more convenient form of charging. Using this, the riders can extend their range in no time. All they have to do is spot the nearest Bounce Battery Swapping station via the Bounce app. And there, they can swap the depleted battery with a fully charged one. All this, under 5 mins. Thus, the rider will not have to wait until the battery gets charged, as with a conventional battery charging setup. Furthermore, there’s also a lower upfront cost involved as battery leasing replaces battery ownership. With the growing number of electric vehicles in the country, this charging approach seems a much better alternative.

Bounce Infinity – Current Status

Bounce has already seen over 1.2M battery swaps on its energy infrastructure. And now, with this partnership, the company will further expand its network, thus catering to a wider range of audiences. The company has also set up fast-charging on highway corridors, starting with the 900 Km Chennai-Trichy-Madurai-Chennai route. Now with this partnership with Bharat Petroleum, the distribution network will cover more than 20,000 fuel stations. All this will help to expand the battery swapping station network. The long term aim is to build an infrastructure to support a million+ scooters in the next 24 months.
