MG is planning to introduce a new electric vehicle in the Indian market. The brand will position the new all-electric SUV below the MG ZS EV. According to reports, the new 100% electric car will compete with Tata’s hot-seller, the Nexon, in the Indian market. Furthermore, reports also reveal that the electric vehicle will come by 2023, and MG will likely price it competitively in the segment.
MG Electric SUV – Exterior
As of now, details of the new MG electric car are still scarce. But speculation is that the EV will come with a crossover design and get MGs typical styling. The crossover SUV is also likely to have an imposing blank-out grille, aero optimised alloy wheels and wraparound taillamps. The brand is also likely to equip the electric car with LED headlamps and taillamps.
MG Electric SUV – Interior
On the inside, the MG electric vehicle is likely to come with a semi-digital instruments cluster and a large infotainment system. The MG electric SUV is also likely to come with automatic air conditioning and many comfort and convenience features. The brand is also likely to offer several safety features on the SUV as well.
MG Electric SUV – Powertrain
MG retails the ZS EV in the Indian market, which directly competes with the Hyundai Kona EV. The MG ZS EV comes with a 44.5kWh Ultra High-Density lithium-ion battery and a 142.7 PS / 353 Nm electric motor. The MG ZS EV is capable of delivering a range of around 419 km on a single charge. To put things into perspective, the Tata Nexon EV comes with a 30.2 kWh battery pack and a 129 PS / 245 Nm electric motor. The Tata Nexon EV delivers 312 km of range on a single charge.
MG Electric SUV – Price
The new Tata Nexon EV rival is likely to come with a sub INR 20 lakh price tag. To compare, the Tata Nexon EV retails starting at INR 13.99 lakh ex-showroom.
