MG Motor India & Attero will recycle EV batteries responsibly

MG Motor India has announced that the brand has partnered with Attero to recycle EV batteries in India. MG Motor India and Attero plan to create an end-to-end electric vehicle ecosystem in India. Attero is a clean technology provider that conducts end-of-use management in the Indian market. Attero also boasts of being the country’s largest electronic asset management company. Under the partnership, MG and Attero will reuse and recycle the Lithium-Ion batteries of Electric Vehicles in India after their end-of-life.

Attero will manage the end-of-life of Lithium-Ion Batteries

As one of the first entrants in the long-range electric vehicle segment, MG has continuously expanded India’s electric vehicle ecosystem. The brand’s partnership with Attero fuels confidence in the customer concerning the disposal of electric batteries. The brand will responsibly recycle lithium-ion batteries at the end of its life. This will further help in minimising the carbon footprint of ZS EV users. The move also helps support the local economy.

The brand is using the ‘Clean India, Green India’ approach and a sustainable vision. As more people adopt electric vehicles, the chances of generating e-Waste also increase. This is where Attero steps in. The brand has more than 30 global patents for recycling technologies, and its innovations will ensure the generation of minimal e-waste.

MG ZS EV Battery Technology

The MG ZS EV batteries result from the joint venture between SAIC Motor and CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited). The cooperative effort has brought to life which can one say is arguably one of the best battery technologies on the market. In the Indian market, the MG ZS EV delivers a range of around 419 km on a single charge, and the brand claims to have optimised the battery for the Indian climatic conditions. 

MG’s ‘Lo Level’ Battery Safety Technology

A Lithium-Ion battery performs best at 20-degree celsius temperature. MG employs a state-of-the-art temperature management system so that the battery performs at a suitable temperature. The MG ZS EV battery pack comes with an IP-67 ingress protection rating. The Lithium-Ion battery on the MG also comes with ‘L0 level’ battery safety technology. MG boasts that the entire battery pack will discharge smoke even in the worst situations, but it will not catch fire.

MG ZS EV Technical Specifications

The MG ZS EV comes with a 142.7 PS / 353 Nm electric motor and a 44.5kWh Ultra High-Density lithium-ion battery. The electric powertrain enables the SUV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 8.5 seconds. The brand claims recharging the battery takes just 50 minutes on a public fast-charging system.
