MG Motor India has revealed that the brand will soon be launching a new electric vehicle in the Indian market. The brand announced that the EV would come with a price tag between INR 10 to INR 15 lakh ex-showroom. The car will make its debut by the end of next fiscal. MG’s Electric Vehicle Strategy In-Line with the Government of India
MG’s new electric vehicles are in line with the Government of India’s EV strategy. The Government of India, along with various state governments, are offering multiple subsidies to electric vehicle manufacturers under the FAME II scheme. The government is also offering various incentives along with tax benefits to customers, as well. MG has revealed that the company will meet the government’s guidelines for the production linked (PLI) scheme for the auto sector. This means that MG Motor India will localise many parts for its following EV. The localisation will include battery assembly, motors and other parts.
Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure
The brand is also quite encouraged thanks to the EV future. Various electric vehicle manufacturers, including MG, are also working towards developing electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the country. The charging eco-system will encourage more citizens to adopt electric vehicles in the country by reducing the range anxiety.
