Jeep recently announced its electrification plans at the Jeep 4xe Day. At the same time, the American brand revealed 3 all-new EVs. These are – the Jeep Recon, Jeep Wagoneer S and the Jeep Avenger. We already took a closer look at the Recon.
Now, let’s have a look at the Wagoneer S. The new Jeep Wagoneer S will be a fully-electric premium mid-size SUV. The Wagoneer S will be a global model, and Jeep will fully unveil it later in 2023, with production starting in North America in 2024.
Jeep Wagoneer S Electric Premium SUV – Highlights
Though the Wagoneer S shares its name with the ICE-powered Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, it is very different. Compared to full-size SUVs, the Wagoneer S has a different market positioning as well as different styling. Unlike the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, the Wagoneer is much sportier looking and focuses more on aerodynamics and a smaller footprint. Jeep only showed the exterior of the Wagoneer S. Thus, we’ll have to wait till the full unveil to get a look at its interior.
At the front, it gets a new illuminated grille. This retains the seven slits but with a new design. Above the grille, there’s the full-width LED light bar and Wagoneer lettering. We’d be lying if we said the setup does not look similar to Range Rovers. Lower down, it gets clean straight lines and a large central opening with silver or copper accents and triangular side intakes.
From the side, the Wagoneer S gets boxy wheel arches and massive wheels to fill them. The boxy wheel arches are similar to other Jeep models. However, the glasshouse is much sleeker looking than any current Jeeps. It also gets a chrome accent highlighting the incline of the rear pillars. The rear is also where one can see the Wagoneer S’ signature design element – a large rear wing created by the offset of the inclined rear windshield. At the rear, the Wagoneer S gets full-width LED taillights and a sculpted tailgate.
Jeep Wagoneer S Electric Premium SUV – Technical Specifications
Although Jeep did not get too much into the details, the American brand did reveal some juicy details. The Wagoneer S will get a fully-electric powertrain that can generate 608 PS of power. Jeep claims this will enable the premium SUV to accelerate from 0 to 97 kmph in around 3.5 seconds. Thus, it will be as fast as the now discontinued Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Wagoneer S will get 4×4 thanks to its dual-motor setup. It will also get Jeep’s all-terrain management system and a couple of Jeep touches to distinguish it from other Stellantis products. The American brand claims the Wagoneer S will offer a range of 644 km on a single charge.
