We all know that Hyundai is soon going to launch two new products focusing on the off-road capabilities. While one is a pseudo-SUV, which is the Elite i20 cross, the other is the ix25 which will slot in as an expensive model among the two.
The ix25 is not sub-4 metres in length, hence it will not benefit from the excise duty benefits like the Ford EcoSport. To counter this, Hyundai is planning to increase localisation to up to 90% to gain a cost advantage. The management claims that they will ‘surprise’ the customer with the pricing of the new ix25.
Coming from the Hyundai stable, expect all the bells and whistles you should expect from a car in this category, may be from a segment or two above as well. Interior and exterior quality is also expected to be top notch given the recent examples such as Grand i10, Xcent and Elite i20.
The SUV is expected to be powered by both, petrol and diesel engines.
Will Hyundai be able to price the ix25 in or under the Rs. 7 lakh bracket?
