Honda Elevate Japan NCAP crash test details

Honda sells the Elevate in Japan, rebadged as WR-V. The Indian-made WR-V has recently been crash tested by the Japan NCAP agency, and the SUV model turned out to be very safe in the results achieved.

As per the report shared by the Japan NCAP testing agency, the WR-V or Elevate managed to score 176.23 points out of 193.8 points in total. This equates to an overall score of 90 per cent in total safety.

Moreover, in the collision tests, the Elevate scored 86.01 points out of 100, thus equating to a ‘Grade A’ result. Additionally, it scored 82.22 points out of 85.8 points in the preventive safety tests.

For the automatic emergency call feature, the Elevate scored a full 8 out of 8. For the side collision test and pedestrian leg protection, it scored 5 out of 5. Meanwhile, it scored 4 out of 5 in the leg and neck protection result for the pedestrians.

As a mandate, Japan NCAP also tested the ADAS safety suite of the Elevate. In the testing, it scored 5 out of 5 for the lane change assist and 4 out of 5 for the headlight and pedal-misplacement testing.

Honda Elevate – A huge success in Japan

While the Elevate moniker is struggling to sell in respectable numbers in India, it is in high demand in the Japanese market, as opposed to the Indian car market.

Sold as WR-V in Japan, the India-made car offers big cabin space and the bulletproof reliability of the 1.5-litre i-Vtec petrol engine.

The Japanese-spec WR-V or Elevate is identical to the Indian model and gets the same list of features and convenience.

Our conclusion

The Elevate SUV is an underrated car in its respective segment. It offers a large and spacious cabin that is full of comfort and advanced features. Additionally, its petrol engine is reliable as well as durable. However, due to its poor NVH and lack of premium cabin feel, it continues to struggle in the Indian market.
