Mahindra & Mahindra is set to reveal its New Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform on August 15, 2025, marking a significant step in its multi-energy vehicle strategy. The platform will underpin future SUVs, supporting internal combustion engines (ICE), hybrids, and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

What is the NFA platform?

The NFA platform is a monocoque structure designed to accommodate various powertrains, allowing Mahindra to adapt to evolving market demands. The company aims to bridge the gap between ICE and EVs, ensuring a smooth transition toward electrification.

Production and expansion plans

Mahindra will manufacture vehicles based on the NFA platform at its Chakan facility, with an annual production capacity of 1.2 lakh units. Additionally, the company plans to establish a new greenfield plant by FY2028, reinforcing its commitment to scaling up operations.

Upcoming models based on NFA

The first model to debut on the NFA platform is expected to be the next-generation Mahindra Bolero, scheduled for launch in 2026. An electric version, the Bolero EV, is also in the pipeline, aligning with Mahindra’s ambitious EV roadmap. The next-gen Mahindra XUV 700 could also be based on the new NFA platform. There are no confirmations about which vehicles will get the new platform. What we know is that there will be 3 ICE SUVs and 2 BEVs will be launched based on the platform in 2026.

Mahindra’s future strategy

Mahindra has outlined plans to introduce 9 new ICE models and 7 EVs by 2030. Recent launches include the XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx, BE 6, and XEV.9e, with 12 more models expected by the end of the decade.
