Recently, the Aprilia RS440 was spotted testing in India. Now, according to a media report, the company is planning to launch the bike in this year’s service festive season.
Aprilia RS440 : More Details
Visually, we can note that the RS440 takes inspiration from the larger bikes in the Aprilia stable. These include a twin-pod headlamp cluster, full fairing and fairing mounted rear view mirrors. Other elements on the bike include a split seat, a sculpted fuel tank and a single sided exhaust.
In terms of colour offerings, Aprilia could borrow them from the larger bikes.
The bike gets upside down front forks and a rear mono shock. Braking hardware consists of single discs on both ends. The bike gets dual channel ABS as well.
The feature set on the Aprilia RS440 could include all-LED lights and TFT display with Bluetooth amongst others. Rival KTM comes with a traction control system and a quick shifter. It remains to be seen if Piaggio will offer the same on the RS440.
Powertrain of the Aprilia RS440
The Aprilia RS440 comes with a 440cc, liquid cooled, parallel twin engine. In terms of numbers, the engine could be good for 48 BHP, which could give the bike a top speed of 180 km/h. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Price and Launch timeline of the Aprilia RS440
According to Piaggio, the bike could arrive on our shores sometime in the 2nd half of the year. It is likely to rival the KTM 390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 400 in the Indian market. While the price is not yet announced, we can expect the bike to be more expensive than the KTM RC 390. The Aprilia RS 440 will roll out of India at Piaggio’s plant in Baramati, outside Pune.
