Aprilia RS 440 twin-cylinder bike will be Made-in-India

There are speculations that Aprilia is bringing in a new motorcycle. This motorcycle will get a 300-400cc engine, with sources further confirming that it could use a parallel twin that displaces 440cc. The engine casing visible in the spy shots is very similar to that of the bigger motor on the Aprilia RS 660 and Tuono 660,

While power and torque figures are still not out. But we assume the figures are similar to its closest rivals such as the Kawasaki Ninja 400, if not slightly higher. From the blurry images, it also appears that this motorcycle carries an exhaust muffler, similar to the RS 660.

How Is The RS 440 Different?

Where the RS 440 differs from its elder sibling is in chassis structure. From the images, we also see a skinner swingarm when compared to the RS 660’s unit. Given the relatively less power, the RS 440 gets a single disc at the front. However, the suspension setup remains the same. Which are USD forks for the front and a monoshock setup for the rear.

Aprilia RS 440 Design Highlights

The styling of the Aprilia RS440 test mule spied carries a high resemblance to the bigger sportbikes from Aprilia. The signature tri-headlight setup and the angular tail section are near-identical to the other sportbikes from the Italian motorcycle maker.

While the RS 440 has aggressive and imposing styling, the seating position will bring in some comfort without any compromise to the  sportiness

Aprilia RS 440 Launch Timeline And Rivals

The Aprilia RS 440 will roll out of India at Piaggio’s plant in Baramati, outside Pune. We assume that the motorcycle could hit Indian roads in the next 18 months. Once launched it will directly compete against the likes of the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and likes. But, in terms of pricing, we expect Aprilia to price the RS440 significantly higher than its rivals.
