Skoda Kodiaq facelift local production begins in India

Czech car manufacturer Skoda has announced that it has started the production of its facelifted Kodiaq SUV in India. Skoda introduced the Kodiaq globally and in India in 2017, achieving great success in terms of sales and popularity. Manufactured at its facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq will sport new features and a new design. Skoda India has also stated that the 2022 Kodiaq will utilize powerful yet efficient engines and aim for customer satisfaction.

2022 Skoda Kodiaq: Design Details

For the 2022 Kodiaq, Skoda has implemented a whole host of design elements and aerodynamic details for a new look. The SUV now sports a sharp front fascia, a hexagonal grille, and sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. Skoda has also ensured to offer the Kodiaq with its signature centre spine and a unique V-design on the clamshell bonnet.

With a typical four-eyed look thanks to the fog lamps, the front bumper also features a large radiator grille. At the rear, the Kodiaq features C-shaped LED taillights with Skoda’s crystalline effect and reprofiled bumpers on both ends. Other additional exterior details include the 19-inch alloy wheels with roof rails and a panoramic sunroof.

2022 Skoda Kodiaq: Powertrain Specs 

In India, Skoda offered the previous-gen Kodiaq with a single 2.0-litre diesel engine which produced 148 PS and 340 Nm. According to Skoda India, the upcoming 2022 Kodiaq will feature a 2.0-litre, TSI turbo-petrol motor along with a diesel. Also featured in the new Volkswagen Tiguan, the new, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor produces 190 PS and 320 Nm. Skoda India is also likely to offer a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed, dual-clutch, automatic transmission for both engines.

2022 Skoda Kodiaq: Features 

Based on reports, the India-specific 2022 Kodiaq will sport the same features as found on the international-spec variants. Skoda India may offer the 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality. Along with Bluetooth for the smartphone with MirrorLink and voice commands, the SUV also offers 2 front USB-C ports. Additionally, Skoda India may offer the SUV with front ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.
