Honda could be planning to launch the new CR-V in the international market. Design patents of the new SUV have leaked on the internet, giving us a glimpse of what to expect in the near future. The development mule of the SUV was spotted testing in the international market last year. However, Honda has been tight-lipped about the CR-V, and no teaser has been released yet. But the appearance of the design patent leads us to believe that Honda could soon introduce the CR-V in the international market, and the SUV could be production-ready.
Honda CR-V – Design Highlights
According to the design patents, the new Honda CR-V will come with a prominent radiator grille and sleek LED headlights. The car is likely to come with an aggressive front bumper and what appears to be a chrome band joining the grille and the headlights. The SUV also gets a progressive roofline and chrome window lining. The CR-V also comes with a rakish rear-end an integrated roof spoiler. The design patents also show five-spoke alloy wheels. As of now, the images on the interiors are currently sparse, and Honda is likely to reveal the SUV soon.
Honda CR-V – Will it come to India?
Honda, in the Indian market, retailed the CR-V but later discontinued the model. The brand also axed the CR-V from the production line when the brand shut the Gurugram. In the Indian market, Honda offered the CR-V with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produced 120 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque. The engine came with a 9-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. In the petrol avatar, the Honda CR-V came with a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder SOHC petrol engine that makes 154 PS of power and 189 Nm of torque. However, it is highly unlikely that Honda will bring the new generation to the Indian market.
