American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson has announced the latest 2022 Sportster S performance cruiser for the US and other markets. The brand has revealed that the new Sportster S, along with other new 2022 models, will soon arrive at its official dealerships. During the coming weeks, Harley-Davidson will also announce its limited-production 2022 models from its Custom Vehicle Operations. The brand stated that it will showcase these motorcycles at the “Further. Faster.” World Premiere Event on January 26th, 2022.
2022 Harley-Davidson Sportster S: Design Details
Harley-Davidson has designed the 2022 Sportster S to deliver a comfortable yet sporty driving experience with eye-catching looks. Offered in 3 colours – Vivid Black, White Sand Pearl, and Mineral Green Metallic, the bike sports a high-mount exhaust. Harley-Davidson has utilized corrosion-resistant, 304-series stainless steel to create the exhaust, which takes inspiration from the brand’s flat-track racing days. Additionally, the Sportster S showcases its bulky and low squat design with chunky parts such as the fuel tank.
2022 Harley-Davidson Sportster S: Technical Specs & Features
Harley-Davidson has equipped the Sportster S with its signature 1,252cc, Revolution Max 1250T, V-twin engine, which features ESPFI. The brand has paired the DOHC, four-valve motor to a 6-speed gearbox with an 8-plate, wet, assist and slip clutch. The 2022 Sportster S features a seat height of 765mm, a 90mm ground clearance, and an 11.8-litre fuel tank.
Thanks to hydraulic self-adjusting lifters, VVT intake, and exhaust valve distribution system, the engine produces 121 PS and 127 Nm. Harley-Davidson offers 3 pre-programmed drive modes on the new Sportster S – Sport, Road, and Rain along with a customizable mode. This custom mode works in tandem with the Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) and Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS).
The bike sports a stressed-member, high strength low alloy steel trellis frame with 17-inch front wheels and 16-inch rears. For enhanced comfort, the 2022 Sportster S features 43 mm inverted front forks and a linkage-mounted rear monoshock suspension. Additionally, Harley-Davidson offers the 2022 Sportster S with a 4-inch, round LCD display with turn-by-turn navigation, and Bluetooth-based features. Other highlights of the new bike include the single LED headlamps with position lighting, LED turn signals, and LED taillights.
