Maruti Suzuki e Vitara launch details
Maruti Suzuki showcased the e Vitara, its first electric vehicle, at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year. The upcoming EV received an overwhelming response from potential customers.
At the event, the officials did mention that the e Vitara was scheduled to launch in the global markets first, and then it will debut in India. Now, with the design homologation done in India, we assume that Suzuki is in its final stretch for the preparation of e Vitara’s launch.
In fact, the international wing of Suzuki has scheduled a private preview for existing customers in the Netherlands. Similar preview events are going to take place in Japan and other critical marketplaces in the coming months.
Important things to know about the e Vitara
The e Vitara is based on a heavily modified Heartect-e platform, which is a derivative of the Grand Vitara SUV. The e Vitara will be the flagship model of the company in India upon its launch.
In terms of design, it will feature a radical outlook, something not seen on the other Suzuki cars. Its boxy yet futuristic design is likely to appeal to young buyers.
Powering the e Vitara will be two different battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The maximum range is said to be more than 500 km for the 61 kWh battery size version.
The key highlights of the e Vitara include: a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS safety, driving modes, electric seats with ventilation, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, etc.
Maruti Suzuki will manufacture the e Vitara at its Gujarat plant and export it from there to the global markets. However, unlike the international-spec, the Indian version will not get an AWD system.
Maruti is likely to launch the e Vitara in India before Diwali 2025. The estimated price range is Rs 20-25 lakh.
Our verdict
Maruti’s new electric SUV is going to be a massive launch in the newly created e-SUV segment in India. Upon the launch, its primary rivals will be the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv EV.
