Written by Nizam Shaikh

Benelli has unveiled the 2021 new Benelli 302R which comes with cosmetic changes, mechanical changes as well as changes to its electronics package. The motorcycle also boasts to have become Euro5 compliant and in the process lost a few horses but gained just a little bit of twisting force. The bodywork and livery are also new and the brand has put the motorcycle on a strict diet as the 302R is now 22kg lighter than the predecessor. The new kerb weight will offset the loss in power due to the new stringent emission requirements.

Powertrain & Mechanical Parts

Powering the Benelli 302R is a 302cc parallel-twin four-stroke petrol engine with liquid-cooling and electronic fuel injection technology that produces 35 PS of power and 27 Nm of torque. As compared to the predecessor the new Benelli 302R makes 3.5 PS less power but 0.5 Nm more torque. The engine also comes with a 6-speed transmission. Thanks to the new 182 kg kerb weight the motorcycle offset the loss in power.  The Benelli 302R features 41mm preload-adjustable upside-down front fork suspension and a monoshock on the rear. The Benelli 302R features twin-disc brakes with hydraulic callipers on the front and a single disc on the rear, equipped with a dual-channel ABS.

Design & Styling

The Benelli 302R comes with a new stacked headlamp featuring a sharper front fascia, boomerang-shaped side fairings, race-style windscreen, a muscular fuel tank, short front fenders, multi-spoke alloy wheels, two-up split seats, high-mounted rear, aero ducts in the rear cowling, a new shape taillamp, side slung twin-pipe exhaust, clip-on handlebars etc.

Features

The Benelli 302R comes with a full-digital colour LCD screen that shows details such as speed, odometer, trip meter, gear position clock and more. The motorcycle also comes with LED headlamps, LED indicators and LED taillamps. The switchgear on the Benelli 302R also features a backlit illumination giving the motorcycle a premium look.

India Launch

While Benelli is likely to introduce the 302R first in the Chinese market, the brand is also likely to bring the BS6 compliant version in India soon.
