Upcoming Indian EV startup Simple Energy has announced the launch of an additional battery pack option for its flagship e-scooter. Simple Energy claims that this new battery pack will allow the Simple One e-scooter to sport 300+ Km of range. The company stated that customers could opt for the additional battery pack option during the final payment of the e-scooter. Simple Energy also stated that it would begin the deliveries of its e-scooter with the optional battery pack in June 2022.
Along with reducing range anxiety amongst customers, the new battery pack will help customers cover long distances via the e-scooter. The new battery pack has 16 kWh of capacity that allows for the extended 300+ Km of riding range. For comparison, the original battery pack offers more than 235 Km of range per charge. Highlighting the stark improvement, Simple One also states that customers can stow away the new battery pack in the boot of the e-scooter.
2022 Simple One e-scooter: Price & Overview
With the additional battery pack, the Simple One e-scooter will now cost INR 1,44,999 (ex-showroom) across the country. Meanwhile, the original variant of the e-scooter without the new battery pack costs INR 1,09,999 (ex-showroom). Customers can also visit the official website and pay a booking amount of INR 1,947 for the upgraded scooter. Simple Energy also commented that it plans to offer and announce additional upgrades for its flagship e-scooter in the coming weeks.
The Simple One e-scooter will soon sport an upgraded 8.5 kW electric motor producing 72 Nm of torque. The company has equipped the e-scooter with features like onboard navigation, riding modes, phone app, calling, and music control. Along with the support for fast charging technology, the Simple One e-scooter features a massive 30-litre boot for storage. Simple Energy produces at its manufacturing units in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an annual production of 1 million units.

In January 2022, Simple Energy announced its partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software to boost EV mobility solutions in India. The electric two-wheeler manufacturer adopted Siemens’ Teamcenter X, cloud-based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software for establishing a digital foundation. This will allow Simple Energy to offer e-mobility solutions along with boosting their functionality via consistent and rich product definitions.
