  • Positioned as a fully-faired cafe racer, it will compete with premium offerings from Triumph and Kawasaki.

Royal Enfield is set to make waves in the mid-size motorcycle segment with the introduction of its first 750cc motorcycle, the Continental GT-R. The fully-faired cafe racer, codenamed R1E, is expected to debut before the end of FY2026, marking a significant evolution from the brand’s successful 650cc twin-cylinder lineup

Royal Enfield Continental GT-R – what to expect?

The Continental GT-R will be powered by a new 750cc parallel-twin engine, derived from the existing 648cc platform. This larger motor is expected to deliver higher peak power and torque, likely exceeding the 47 hp and 52 Nm figures of the current 650cc models. Reports suggest the engine will produce between 50 hp and 55 hp, with torque figures reaching up to 60 Nm.

To complement its increased performance, the GT-R will feature twin front disc brakes for enhanced stopping power. The bike will also sport a semi-fairing design with a retro-style round headlight and clip-on handlebars, emphasizing its cafe racer aesthetics. Alloy wheels compatible with tubeless tyres and telescopic front forks are expected, with the possibility of a higher variant offering USD forks.

Royal Enfield Continental GT-R features

The GT-R will likely include modern features such as a circular instrument console with Tripper navigation, music control, and Google Map integration. The bike’s chassis will be based on the Continental GT 650 platform, ensuring a balance of agility and stability.

Expected pricing and competition

Royal Enfield plans to position the Continental GT-R as a premium offering, bridging the gap between its accessible 650cc lineup and more performance-focused models. The bike is expected to be priced between INR 3.5 lakh and INR 4.1 lakh (ex-showroom), making it competitive against rivals like the Triumph Trident 660 and Kawasaki Z650.

The launch of the Continental GT-R aligns with Royal Enfield’s strategy to expand its footprint in the global middleweight motorcycle category. Following the GT-R, the company is expected to introduce more models based on the 750cc platform, catering to enthusiasts and motorsport-focused riders.
