The transport department has informed Delhi high court on Friday that public transport vehicles running across the streets of Delhi cannot have political advertisements.
Rickshaws, buses and other public transport vehicles, if spotted carrying political or religious advertisements, will be confiscated and fined by traffic police and the transport department. A comprehensive list of guidelines to regulate ads on public service vehicles has been submitted.
There is a mention of what type of ads will be allowed and those which are not. The rickshaw drivers however have the opinion that any prohibition of ads on autos was discriminatory and challenged the move as limitation of freedom of speech.
Additionally, the ban is also on the use of reflective materials or moving objects used for this purpose.
We think that this move is in the right direction, what is your opinion?
