BMW Motorrad is gearing up to launch the F 450 GS, its latest adventure motorcycle, in India. The bike was recently spotted testing in Karnataka, covered in heavy camouflage, hinting at its near-production-ready status.

Design and features

The F 450 GS retains BMW’s signature beak-style front fender, tall windscreen, and single headlamp, closely resembling the concept showcased at EICMA 2024. The test mule was seen with alloy wheels, wrapped in Eurogrip Duratrail EB+ tyres, instead of the cross-spoke wheels originally displayed.

BMW is expected to offer two variants—one focused on road touring and another optimized for off-road adventures. The off-road variant may get spoked wheels.

Engine and performance

The 450cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine will produce 48 bhp and 45 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The bike will feature a 125° firing order, ensuring a distinct exhaust note and broad torque delivery.

Suspension duties will be handled by long-travel telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The production model is expected to have 180-200mm suspension travel, slightly reduced from the 230mm concept version.

Market position and rivals

The BMW F 450 GS will compete with Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, and Honda NX500. Given its premium build and twin-cylinder engine, it is expected to be priced around ₹4-4.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Expected launch timeline

BMW is likely to unveil the production-spec F 450 GS at EICMA 2025, with an India launch in early 2026. The new motorcycle will replace the recently discontinued G 310 GS. We could also see  streetfighter and a sport tourer versions of the F 450 GS after the launch.
