Norton Motorcycles launch by 2025 end
As per the newly signed FTA (Free Trade Agreement) between India and the UK, both governments have agreed to reduce import taxes for goods. The automotive import tax in India, which is currently at 100% of the sticker price, will soon be reduced to 10%.
This news has proven beneficial to the Chennai-based motorcycle brand TVS, which owns the British iconic motorcycle maker Norton. TVS has been planning to launch Norton Motorcycles in India for a long time, and now with the FTA, it has confirmed that these new bikes will launch before 2025 end.
TVS MD, Sudarshan Venu, recently passed a statement that the company will launch Norton Motorcycles by this year and also added that the FTA will help in scaling the brand’s progress faster.
Moreover, not long ago, the news surfaced in the market that Norton is developing two different platforms for the Indian market. These two different bikes will belong between the 350cc and 650cc segments, which are dominated by the Chennai-based cult motorcycle brand Royal Enfield.
TVS has plans to manufacture these new motorcycles at its Hosur-based plant. It is expected that Norton Motorcycles will offer the best quality and performance in the middle-weight motorcycle segment in India.
