Ola has announced a self-drive car sharing service which will be integrated with their current app. This service will be launched initially in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. Ola plans to have a fleet of 20,000 cars for this service by 2020, and they claim that they will be 50% ahead in fleet size compared to the entire self-drive / car-sharing industry.
With Ola Drive, customers can decide for themselves and edit the package they want with a car. Customers can select the distance, time, fuel inclusion, etc. while selecting a package. Ola claims that this would effectively result in a saving of over 305 compared to other self-drive platforms.
All Ola self-drive cars will be equipped with the Ola Play entertainment system via a 7″ touchscreen system. The brand will offer GPS, media, bluetooth connectivity and more via this service. 24*7 safety and support from the Ola back end team will also be available for all Ola self-drive customers. Drivers can also share real-time tracking with family members and avail features such as RSA for complete peace of mind.
Ola is currently active with their cab services in over 250 cities. The Ola self-drive service will have dedicated pick-up stations around residential and commercial establishments. Customers can book a car even two hours prior to their departure and a security deposit of INR 2,000 would be required.
Ola will procure best-selling car models from the Indian car market, to make this self-drive platform more lucrative rather than having slow-selling, highly-discounted unwanted cars in our market. All these self-drive cars will go through a 104 point check before a customer picks it up for a comfortable journey. Ola will add premium and budget hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and luxury cars for their self-drive section.
