MG India has released its sales report for January 2022. The carmaker posted a growth of 20 percent for the given period with a total sales of 4,306 units. Going forward, MG looks to strengthen its presence in the country and expand its market share. Given the uncertainty around the supply of semiconductors, MG’s production has reduced significantly. Not just MG, a host of other car manufacturers are facing the crunch due to the unavailability of semiconductors.
MG Astor – Refining The Mid-Size SUV Segment
Given the rising demand for SUVs in the market, the timing of the launch of Astor was pretty perfect. Customers have also responded to the launch very positively. Such was the demand that the SUV was sold for the entire 2021. To further enhance customer experience, MG had officially updated a delivery timeline for the booked units.
As an overall package, MG Astor is a perfect choice for the Indian market. The SUV gets a long list of features and multiple powertrain options. MG has done enough to inculcate tech in its offerings. This is a great move as it does put some pressure on the other manufacturers to keep up with the competition, which helps in the overall progress of the industry.
MG’s Plans For Electric Mobility
As of now, MG India has only one EV offering, which comes in form of the ZS EV. The current iteration of the ZS EV has been quite successful. The EV recently completed 2 years in the Indian market. Given the rise in demand for EVs in the market, ZS EV has had its fair share of success. A total of 4,000 customers to date have joined the ZS EV brand. There are plans to introduce a long-range version of the ZS EV. We do have spy shots of the car being tested on the Indian roads. And hopefully, we will get this update sometime this year.
