Written by AnantaSaranNayak

MG ZS EV, one of India’s early fully electric passenger cars, completed two years in the market. Interestingly this date, 29th January, also coincides with World Automobile Day. Taking advantage of the early-mover strategy, MG ZS EV has added 4,000 customers since its launch. This has helped MG become the second-largest EV manufacturer in India, with a 27% market share in the segment. Given the rising demand for EVs in the market, ZS EV is selling in good numbers. As of today, MG ZS EV receives 700 bookings per month on average.

MG ZS EV Expands Its Market Share

In 2021, MG sold a total of 2,798 units of the ZS EV, which translates to a growth of 145 per cent when compared to 2020. This is quite a positive indicator for MG as well as for the EV sector in the country. Many of MG’s ICE vehicle owners are making their shift to electric mobility. There are numerous examples of MG owners who opted to exchange their ICE car and replace it with an MG ZS EV.

MG ZS EV – Details

Powering the electric SUV is a 44.5 kWh Hi-Tech battery, which comes with a claimed driving range of 419 km. The performance output figure stands at 143 PS and 350 Nm. Being an electric car, we do expect some exciting performance as well. The car can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in under 8.5 seconds, which is quite aggressive. To ensure peace of mind, MG is offering its customers a wide array of facilities. One such feature is the 5-way charging ecosystem. This includes a free-of-cost AC fast-charger at residences/offices, DC superfast charging stations at dealerships, portable in-car charging cable, 24×7 charge-on-the-go facility (in 5 cities), and charging stations in satellite cities and tourist hubs.

Customers get two trims to choose from, namely Excite and Exclusive. Prices start at INR 21.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). There are some reports suggesting that MG is looking to launch a long-range version of the ZS EV. We do not have any official update regarding the same, but given the rise in demand, the chances are high that we see this.
