Maruti Suzuki is all geared up to launch their new S-Presso Mini-SUV for the Indian market. This product is going to be a hatchback crossover, primarily a rival to the likes of Renault Kwid in the design department. The only thing going for it as an SUV is going to be the subtle body cladding and higher ground clearance. Otherwise, it is just a new hatchback in lay mans terms. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is coming bang on during the festive season of 2019, and the brand expects to cash in on the celebrations.
Maruti Suzuki claims that the S-Presso will be packed with new exciting features for the segment, along with a spacious interior cabin as per segment standards. The S-Presso is an indigenously designed and developed vehicle in India by Maruti Suzuki, and will also be exported to other emerging markets. The brand has also clarified that the S-Presso will go on sale in the Maruti Suzuki Arena showrooms, and not in the premium Nexa outlets.
Maruti Suzuki is looking to appeal to first time car buyers with the S-Presso, which will be bolder and more spacious with new features as compared to the Alto range which now feels dated and isn’t really very spacious.
The name S-Presso has been chosen as the world loves espresso coffee, this is what the brand reveals. This the brand thinks would translate in a strong and bold characteristic for the vehicle. Since the market has shifted towards SUVs, this mini-SUV in the A-segment should also drive in better sales. Expect pricing to be in the range of INR 4-6 lakh, ex-showroom.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the S-Presso with a 998cc petrol engine producing 67 BHP of power @ 5500 RPM. The S-Presso will measure 3665mm in length, 1520mm in width, 1549 – 1564mm in height, wheelbase of 2380mm and a gross vehicle weight of 1170kg. The S-Presso will be a 5-seater mini-SUV riding on 13″ rims on the lower trims and a 14″ wheel on the top model.
