Test mules of the new Mahindra Scorpio have been spotted, however, running an automatic gearbox this time. Mahindra had recently launched the refreshed Scorpio in India, but an automatic variant wasn’t offered. Expect this automatic variant of the SUV to hit the streets in a couple of months.

Spotted testing on the Gurgaon-Delhi expressway, the test mule was a VLX variant. However, the company will rebadge it to the current generation nomenclature such as S2, S4, S8 etc. Possibility is, that the automatic variant will be on offer only on the top spec, S10 variant. The car also had automatic written on the side body mouldings.

Engine duty will be performed by the same 2.2L, mHawk diesel engine producing 120 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. Expected automatic gearbox should be a 6-speed  unit sourced from Bosch.

Expect pricing to be higher than Rs. 70,000 – 80,000 over the regular Scorpio variant.
