MG Motor India is set to introduce a long-range version of the Windsor EV, featuring a larger 50.6 kWh battery pack. The update aims to enhance the electric crossover’s usability, particularly for highway and long-distance travel. The new variant is expected to launch next month.

New MG Windsor -what’s expected?

The Windsor EV currently comes with a 38 kWh battery, offering an ARAI-rated range of 332 km. The larger 50.6 kWh battery, already available in Indonesia under the Wuling Cloud EV name, will push the range to 460 km on the CLTC cycle. Despite the battery upgrade, the 136 hp, 200 Nm front-wheel-drive motor will remain unchanged.

Charging times will also improve. The 50.6 kWh battery will support DC fast charging, allowing a 0-80% charge in just 46 minutes using a 50 kW charger. A full charge via AC charging will take approximately 16 hours.

The long-range Windsor EV is expected to introduce ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. These features will likely be reserved for higher-spec variants.

MG Windor success

Since its launch in September 2024, the Windsor EV has been a strong performer in India’s EV market, outselling the Tata Nexon EV. In just seven months, MG has sold 19,394 units, averaging over 2,700 units per month. The addition of a long-range variant could further boost sales and strengthen MG’s position in the segment.

Pricing for the Windsor EV currently ranges between INR 14 lakh and INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The long-range version is expected to carry a premium of INR 1–1.5 lakh, making it a competitive alternative to the Tata Nexon EV LR and Hyundai Creta EV.
