Kia Carens variants rejig details

As per the latest update, the Carens MPV, which was earlier available in a total of 9 variants, will now be sold in a single variant only.

The one-above-base variant, called Premium (O), will now be available with the options of three engine options without an automatic transmission. The pricing for the Premium (O) version is Rs 11.41 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kia Carens Premium Optional

The Premium (O) variant is equipped with the basic features, including the AC, power windows, steering-mounted audio controls, touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, 7-seats, and more.

Although the Premium (O) variant is being offered with the two petrol and one diesel engine options, customers can no longer opt for an automatic gearbox.

For buyers wanting more features and luxury, the new Carens Clavis MPV will be their sole choice in Kia’s product portfolio. It is an upmarket version of the Carens, which is equipped with the latest features like the new design, revamped cabin, and advanced technology.

The sole rival of the Carens in India is the Maruti Ertiga, which is also the top-selling MPV of India.

Our verdict

With the new variants rejig, Kia has limited the Carens moniker for taxi operators or customers with a tight budget. For an upmarket feel and more luxury, new buyers will now be forced to either opt for the Carens Clavis or the rival Maruti XL6.
