Lexus has unveiled the newest member of its global line-up. The LBX compact-SUV is now the luxury car maker’s smallest SUV offering.

The new Lexus LBX is 4,190 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, and 1,560 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. It is based on Toyota’s TNGA-B platform. The Toyota Yaris Cross is also based on the same underpinnings.
On the outside, this compact luxury SUV gets a reworked Lexus spindle grille. The Lexus LBX also gets slim LED headlamps, LED DRLS integrated into the main lights and a full-width LED light bar at the back. This light bar doubles up as the tail lights.
The insides are dominated by dual screens on the dashboard. One of these is the 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster while the smaller is a 9.8-inch unit for infotainment. The touchscreen infotainment unit is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Further, the car gets a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound set-up as standard while owners can also configure their cars with the optional head-up display. Apart from the usual trim levels, Lexus is also offering an unlimited number of customization options from its Bespoke Build offering.
Powertrain of the new Lexus LBX
The new Lexus LBX is powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. Like others, the compact-SUV comes with a hybrid system as well. The combined output of this is claimed to be 134 BHP and 185 Nm. It comes paired with a CVT gearbox. According to Lexus, the LBX will do a 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds.
Launch timeline of the Lexus LBX
While the car has just been unveiled, it is scheduled to go on sale in some of the global markets by the fourth quarter of 2023. It is not yet known if Lexus will get the car on Indian shores.
