Kia has officially released the first official images of the fifth-generation Kia Sportage. The brand also announced that Kia Motors would reveal the much-popular SUV this July in Korea. The brand says that the new Sportage will come with a new and advanced exterior design, new interiors, connectivity technology and highly efficient powertrains.

Kia – Exterior Design Teaser

The fifth-generation Kia Sportage will follow the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy and features a youthful design language. The brand boasts of paying homage to nature’s perfection and simplicity with the new design. The Sportage features a powerful and cutting-edge presence for the SUV.

The front end of the car comes with sharp details giving the SUV a solid yet refined silhouette. The new Sportage features a muscular stance with crisp character lines across the surface. The SUV gets a detailed-orientated black grille graphic spanning the width of the face. On the rear, the fifth-gen Sportage comes with muscular shoulder lines that progressively meet the vehicle’s rear end.

Interior Design Teaser

On the inside, the Kia Sportage comes with a beautifully sculpted integrated curved display. The cabin is driver-oriented and features bold characters along with innovative technological solutions. The Sportage features a sporty three-spoke steering wheel with controls and raised centre console. The car also features sculpted air conditioning vents with colour accents and premium trim on the door and dashboard fascia.

Powertrain

Kia has not yet revealed the powertrain details on the new Kia Sportage. But the brand announced that it would bring highly efficient engines to the SUV. This leads us to believe that the brand will add some electrification to the fifth-gen Kia Sportage. More details on the engine specifications are likely to be revealed soon. However, the current Kia Sportage in the US comes with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine that makes 181 Hp of power. Optionally, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 240 Hp of power is also available on the current-generation model. The Kia Sportage is available in both 2-Wheel-Drive and 4-Wheel-Drive configurations.
