2021 Kia Seltos New Variants

For 2021 Kia has added the new HTK+ iMT (1.5 Petrol) and the GTX(O) 6MT (1.4 T-GDI Petrol) variant to the existing line-up. The new addition brings the innovative iMT (intelligent Manual Transmission) option to the Seltos. The first-in-segment transmission system features a clutch-pedal-less gearbox. The driver can select gears manually without having to depress the clutch. In fact, there is no manual clutch lever present in the vehicle.

How Does iMT work?

The car features a Transmission Gear Shift (TGS) Lever similar to a conventional manual transmission car but equipped with an Intention Sensor. The Intention Sensor can sense the driver’s gear change input and activate a Hydraulic Actuator via the Transmission Control Unit (TCU). The Hydraulic Actuator then send hydraulic oil pressure to a Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC). This depresses the clutch, and the engine load is removed. The gear then slots into the intended gate, and the TCU releases the clutch pressure, and the transmission gets the drive back. Hence, the iMT gearbox best of both manual transmission with the fatigue-less driving of a clutchless automatic.

The SUV also comes with paddle shifters on the GTX+ 7DCT / GTX+ AT trim. HTK+/HTX/HTX+ variants now get Smart-Key Remote Engine Start even on the Manual Transmission option.
