Kia India has achieved a significant milestone by rolling out its 1.5 millionth vehicle from its Anantapur manufacturing facility. The landmark vehicle, Kia Carens, highlights the company’s rapid growth since it began operations in August 2019. To celebrate the achievement, Kia has announced the launch of an updated Carens on May 8, 2025.
The numbers break up
Kia’s Anantapur facility, spread across 536 acres, plays a crucial role in both domestic sales and exports. The company has shipped vehicles to over 90 countries, reinforcing its global presence. Breaking down production figures, the Seltos leads with 700,668 units manufactured (46.7%), followed by the Sonet with 519,064 units (34.6%). The Carens contributed 241,582 units (16.1%), while newer models like the Syros and Carnival accounted for 23,036 units (1.5%) and 16,172 units (1.1%), respectively.
The new Kia Carens
The facelifted Carens will bring several design and feature upgrades. Spy images suggest a refreshed front fascia, sharper LED lighting elements, new alloy wheels, and a more SUV-like stance. The rear will feature vertically stacked LED taillights connected by an LED light bar, adding a modern touch.
Inside, the Carens is expected to offer a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an updated digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof on top variants. Advanced safety features like Level-2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera will further enhance its appeal.
The new Kia Carens will retain the powertrains
The Carens facelift will retain its current engine lineup, including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (115 hp, 144 Nm), a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (160 hp, 253 Nm), and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel (116 hp, 250 Nm). Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 7-speed DCT, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
