Keeway is preparing to bring in multiple models in India. A couple of days back, the Hungarian manufacturer teased a cruiser motorcycle. Now, the company has released another teaser, this time for a maxi-scooter. The unveiling for both models will happen on 17th May 2022. The teaser image shows a maxi-scooter which is likely to be the GT270.
If the teasers and reports hold true, the Indian market will soon get a proper maxi-scooter. Though Keeway will soon make its debut in the country, its parent company QJ Group is already present in India with the Benelli.
Keeway is known for its scooters, small cruisers, and street and dirt bikes, most of which use a 125cc engine. The Keeway K-Lite, which will likely launch along the maxi-scooter, also uses the 125cc mill. When Keeway enters the Indian market, it will sell its products in current Benelli dealerships alongside other Benelli models.
Keeway GT270 Maxi-Scooter – Highlights
There are other maxi-scooter-like products in India like the Suzuki Burgman and Aprilia SXR 125 / SXR 160. However, they aren’t proper ones as they neither offer the comfort or performance of a pure maxi-scooter. The only other pure maxi-scooter in India is the BMW C 400 GT, though it is exorbitantly priced and out of reach for most. Keeway aims to change this with the affordable pure maxi-scooter, the GT270.
The GT270 uses a Piaggio-sourced 278.2cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine. The engine produces 19 HP at 6500 and 22.5 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. Like all scooters, it also uses a CVT gearbox. The maxi-scooter gets premium KYB suspension at the front and back. Braking hardware is a 240 mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. The GT270 will ride on 13-inch rims with a 110 section tyre at the front and 130 section tyre at the back. The fuel tank capacity of the GT270 is 9.5 litres.
When launched, expect Keeway to price it aggressively. However, considering the features on offer, expect the price to be around INR 3 lakh ex-showroom.
