Which Mahindra Thar variants are discontinued?
Among the discontinued models are the AX (O) 4WD Convertible, LX AT 4WD Convertible, and LX AT 4WD Hard Top OD with the 2.0-litre petrol engine. Additionally, Mahindra has phased out the AX (O) 4WD Convertible, 4WD Hard Top, LX 4WD Convertible, and 4WD Hard Top OD with the 2.2-litre diesel engine.
New Mahindra Thar right around the corner?
The decision to discontinue these variants comes as Mahindra prepares for the Thar facelift, expected to launch in 2026. The updated model will feature revised front and rear designs, new alloy wheels, and an interior similar to the Thar Roxx. It is also expected to introduce all-LED lighting, a 360-degree camera system, Level-2 ADAS, TPMS, a larger infotainment unit, and a fully digital instrument cluster.
Change in pricing?
Despite the removal of select trims, the Thar remains available in 11 variants, with prices ranging from INR 11.50 lakh to INR 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The entry-level AX (O) RWD Hard Top 1.5L Diesel starts at INR 11.50 lakh, while the LX AT 4WD Hard Top 2.0L Petrol is priced at INR 16.80 lakh. The range-topping Earth Edition costs INR 17.60 lakh.
Mahindra’s decision to streamline the Thar lineup reflects its strategy to focus on models that resonate most with customers. The SUV continues to be a top choice for Indian buyers, maintaining strong sales despite these changes.
