Hero MotoCorp & Harley-Davidson have announced plans to extend their partnership to develop another brand new motorcycle. This collaboration aims to expand the existing Harley-Davidson X440 range and introduce new variants.
Hero MotoCorp & Harley-Davidson New Development
The partnership between Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson began in 2020, resulting in the successful launch of the Harley-Davidson X440, which is manufactured at Hero MotoCorp’s factory in Neemrana, Rajasthan. The X440 has been well-received in the market, with over 25,000 bookings globally by August 2023.
The new motorcycle will be developed on the same platform as the X440, and it is expected to include a scrambler variant. Hero MotoCorp has also trademarked the name “Mavrick 440 Scrambler,” hinting at the potential design direction.
Curent Motorcyles under the partnership
The Harley-Davidson X440 and the Hero Mavrick 440 are both powered by a 440cc air-cooled engine, delivering 27.37 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Both feature a 6-speed manual transmission and a fuel tank capacity of 13.5 liters. The HD X440 boast a top speed of 137 kmph and comes with dual-channel ABS, a digital instrument console, and LED lighting. The Mavrick 440 has a slightly higher top speed of 150 kmph and includes features like a digital speedometer, Bluetooth connectivity, and a sleek negative display.
Market Strategy
Hero MotoCorp is focusing on the premium motorcycle segment, aiming to capture a larger share of India’s growing market. The company has been expanding its “Premia” dealership network, with plans to reach 100 outlets by March 2025.
The collaboration between Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson is seen as a strategic move to enhance their product offerings and cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers. The new motorcycle is expected to be launched in the near future, with more details to be revealed as the development progresses. It is expected to go up against the newly introduced Royal Enfield Scram 450 and the Triumph Scrambler 400X.
