Harley-Davidson Pan America ST – what is special about it?
The Pan America is the flagship model by Harley-Davidson. It is an adventure bike that has hardcore off-road hardware. However, for users who travel largely on tarmac, the company has unveiled a special variant called ST.
Unveiled in the US market, the ST variant comes equipped with 17-inch cast aluminium alloy wheels that offer quick performance on the roads. Additionally, the bike has reduced suspension travel for better cornering abilities and faster performance around the curves.
The company has equipped it with Michelin Scorcher Sport rubber that has a 120/70 profile for the front rim and a 180/55 profile for the rear. These tyres are claimed to offer a lip-smacking on-road performance. Moreover, to enhance the on-road abilities of the ST, it has been fitted with lean-sensitive traction control, hill hold control, cruise control, engine braking control, and multiple customisable riding modes.
The ST is powered by the tried and tested 1,252cc liquid-cooled, V-twin engine. It generates 150bhp of peak power and 128Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper-assist clutch.
Since the Pan Ameria Special is already sold worldwide, the ST will sit down below it, when launched in India. Its pricing will be on the higher side as it will be positioned above the standard model.

Our verdict
The Pan America ADV has been the baton-holder model for Harley-Davidson worldwide. Now, with the addition of a touring-specific variant, the moniker is bound to expand globally. However, Indian customers might have to wait till 2025 end until Hero MotoCorp brings the bike here.
