2025 KTM 390 Adventure – what is new?
The new 390 Adventure R, also the top variant in the nomenclature, now gets a rally-inspired design. It gets a new headlight setup with projector headlamps, a bigger windscreen, and a new platform that uses up to 99 per cent new components.
Powering the new 390 ADV is the LC4 engine that now makes 46PS of peak power and 39Nm of peak torque. Due to its new design, the ground clearance has also increased to 227mm. Another major change is in its suspension units. The front now gets a new WP Apex USD forks with up to 30 clicks adjustability, while the rear monoshock can be adjusted up to 20 clicks.
Unlike its primary rival Royal Enfield Himalayan, the new 30 Adventure R comes loaded with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear tubeless spoke wheels as standard. Moreover, to provide the utmost comfort to the rider, it now gets 830mm of seat height with revised ergonomics. Moreover, it now comes with a new 5-inch vertical TFT console with turn-by-turn navigation, call, and music integration.
Adding to the list of changes is its new electronic packaging. It is equipped with KTM Quickshifter+, cornering MTC (traction control), a cruise control (first in segment), cornering ABS, and an off-road ABS. It also has 3 ride modes that the rider can switch via a toggle button.

2025 KTM 390 Adventure X also revealed officially
Making its debut along with the 390 Adventure R is its road-centric sibling 390 Adventure X. It is centered towards highway touring and tarmac long-distance riding. It has an identical design but a different feel altogether.
The 390 Adventure X is based on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. This has led to a lower seat height of 825mm, which will be more suitable to the riders of a shorter stance. The ergonomics of the Adventure X are also suited for highway riding, and so is its suspension tuning.
KTM has equipped the Adventure X with the latest electronics including ride-by-wire tech, LED projector headlights, Quickshifter+, and an off-road ABS. Other crucial features include the 5-inch TFT console, phone connectivity, ride modes, and more.

India launch details and price expectations
KTM India is expected to launch the new 390 Adventure series bikes in the coming days. However, the addition of new tech, a powerful engine, and a revised design will lead to a price hike for sure. We are expecting a ballpark price of Rs 3.5-3.7 lakh for the Adventure X and Rs 3.75-4 lakh for the Adventure R.
Our verdict
The KTM 390 ADV motorcycle has revolutionised the middle-weight adventure-tourer segment internationally. In fact, it has been a successful product in India as well. Now, the much-needed update has finally arrived as it will launch in the domestic market soon.
