India’s electric vehicle (EV) market may see the potential entry of a new player: Ligier, the French car manufacturer. The company’s latest offering, the Ligier Myli, has been spotted undergoing testing in India, sparking excitement and curiosity among automotive enthusiasts.
The Ligier Myli is a compact, two-door electric car designed to cater to urban commuters. With its neo-retro design elements, the Myli brings a touch of nostalgia while embracing modern technology. The car features round headlamps, a gloss black grille, and a large glass tailgate, giving it a unique and stylish appearance.
Ligier has a rich history in motorsport, participating in events like the 24-Hour Le Mans and Formula 1 between 1976 and 1996. Post these ventures, the company shifted its focus to micro electric cars and commercial vehicles, with the Myli being their most affordable offering.
Ligier Myli – Variants and Features
The Myli is available in four trim levels: G.OOD, I.DEAL, E.PIC, and R.EBEL. Each trim offers different features and ranges. The base G.OOD and I.DEAL trims provide a range of 63 km on a single charge, while the higher-spec E.PIC and R.EBEL trims offer up to 192 km with the High Performance Range option. The car also comes with various features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power steering, automatic climate control, and heated seats.
The Myli’s compact dimensions make it ideal for city driving. It measures 2,958 mm in length, 1,499 mm in width, and 1,541 mm in height. The car is equipped with 13- to 16-inch wheels, depending on the trim level. The base trim offers 13-inch steel wheels, while the higher trims come with alloy wheels and additional features.
Market Expectation and Launch Timeline
The potential launch of the Ligier Myli in India has generated a lot of buzz, especially as it aims to rival the MG Comet EV, currently one of the most affordable electric cars in the country. The Myli’s competitive pricing and compact design could make it an attractive option for first-time EV buyers in India.
While the exact launch timeline for the Ligier Myli in India is yet to be confirmed, the ongoing testing by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) suggests that the company is serious about entering the Indian market. If launched, the Myli could become one of the cheapest electric cars in India.
