India’s brand new EV start-up, Earth Energy, has unveiled the SX and SX+ variants of its Glyde commuter e-scooter. The Mumbai-based brand has also announced the prices of the SX and SX+ variants of the e-scooter across other states. Earth Energy has also ensured to build its e-scooter from the ground up, only using indigenous components.
This has allowed the company to showcase its strong commitment to building the Indian EV infrastructure and ecosystem. The brand states that all its EVs are compliant with the public charging stations being set up across India. Earth Energy also aims to achieve 98% localization in terms of manufacturing and bring down the overall cost of maintenance.
Pricing & Availability
By appointing distributors across 10 Indian states, Earth Energy has decided to target its retail rollout by January 2022. The Indian states in question are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnata, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Orissa. The manufacturing of the Glyde e-scooter will take place at the 20,000 sq. ft greenfield facility in Maharashtra.
Earth Energy has announced the statewise ex-showroom prices of the SX and SX+ variants of the e-scooter across 7 states. In Andhra Pradesh, the Glyde SX and SX+ will cost INR 79,000 and INR 97,000, respectively. In Gujarat, the Glyde SX and SX+ will cost INR 73,000 and INR 97,000, respectively. In Kerala, the Glyde SX and SX+ will cost INR 74,000 and INR 97,000, respectively.
In Maharashtra, the Glyde SX and SX+ will cost INR 74,000 and INR 95,000, respectively. In Telangana, the Glyde SX and SX+ will cost INR 79,900 and INR 97,000, respectively. In Karnataka, the Glyde SX and SX+ will cost INR 79,999 and INR 98,175, respectively. In Tamil Nadu, the Glyde SX and SX+ will cost INR 78,000 and INR 1,00,000, respectively.
2021 Glyde SX & SX+: Technical Specs
Both the SX and SX+ variants of the Glyde e-scooter sport a 3.9 kW battery pack and 12% grade-ability. The SX variant of the e-scooter produces 74 Nm of torque and showcases a top speed of 25 kph. Along with a driving range of 150 Km per charge, the SX variant sports a fast-charging time of 40 minutes. Riders do not require a license to ride the SX variant of the Glyde e-scooter.
Meanwhile, the SX+ variant of the e-scooter produces 104 Nm of torque with a top speed of 90 kph. With a fast-charging time of 40 minutes, the SX+ variant offers a driving range of 100 Km per charge. Interested buyers do require a license in order to officially ride the SX+ variant of the Glyde e-scooter. While using a normal three-pin plug, both variants sport a charging time of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
